ST. LOUIS, MO — The St. Louis community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Naiesha Henry, a 2025 high school graduate remembered as the heart and soul of the girls track team. Naiesha passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, leaving behind devastated family, friends, teammates, and coaches who describe her as irreplaceable.
Known for her unwavering dedication, fierce determination on the track, and uplifting spirit off of it, Naiesha was more than just a standout athlete — she was a source of inspiration for all who knew her. Teammates recall her constant encouragement, her ability to bring out the best in others, and the way her laughter could lift the heaviest of days.
In a heartfelt tribute, the team announced they will dedicate their entire 2026 season in her memory, ensuring her legacy of perseverance, sportsmanship, and unity will continue to inspire future athletes.
“She was more than just a runner,” one coach reflected. “She was a leader, a motivator, and a friend to everyone. Our team won’t be the same without her.”
Services for Naiesha Henry will be held on Saturday, August 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Austin A. Layne Mortuary, 7302 W. Florissant Ave., St. Louis, MO 63136. Coaches, teammates, and community members are expected to gather in her honor, sharing stories and memories of a young woman whose impact stretched far beyond the track.
While her life ended far too soon, Naiesha’s memory will forever run strong in the hearts of those she inspired.
